HCF approved at its December 9th Board meeting becoming a Partner in Highland’s 2020 Census efforts. This partnership will include assisting the Town of Highland’s Complete Count Committee in its community outreach efforts through social media posts and other outlets, such as the foundation’s website at highlandcommunityfoundation.org. The 2020 Census will begin in mid-March, with a mailing from the US Census Bureau to Highland residents inviting them to respond to the Census online.

The Town of Highland created a Census Complete Count Committee in order to ensure the most complete, accurate count of Highland residents next Spring. At stake is the town’s fair share of billions of dollars in federal, state and county funds that are determined by Census population statistics. The census will also help determine Indiana’s representation in the House of Representatives and the Electoral College.

As part of its partnership pledge, the Foundation has agreed to publish Census information and Town of Highland’s census activities. For any other Highland nonprofit or civic group interested in taking a partnership pledge, a form is attached to this link: 2020 Census Partnership Pledge Form[8619]
